Winter Writing

It seems like there is just too much to do in a day!  I have a few minutes tonight that I can use to show you the cutest writing project my students completed.  I found this on another teachers blog called A Cupcake for the Teacher.  The students really enjoyed this writing when it was done with the artwork.  They did a great job at both writing and illustrating.  They are really becoming pretty good at quick-writing, or getting their ideas down on paper.  We hope you enjoy them.  To make them appear larger so you can read the writing, simply hold down the control (Ctrl) key and scroll using the wheel on your mouse.  At least that works on my PC.  I know nothing about a Mac, so you are on your own there!  Maybe someone would like to pass the word for that.

What Are You Thankful For?

During our writing unit we wrote a descriptive poem called I Am Thankful For..... After writing the final poem, students wrote it on a piece of writing papter, then attached it to a colored paper that became a 'feather' on our Thankful Turkey on our bulletin board.  We hope you enjoy reading our poems.

Halloween Party

We had a great Halloween Party, thanks to the wonderful Mother Volunteers.  Korinda Stilson is our classroom Room Mother and with the help of several other parents, the kids had a blast!  They were well behaved and had fun participating in the games and craft.  It was so fun to see them excited to be in their costumes and playing games.  Thanks moms!

What a Crazy Class!  They had so much fun!

We had so much fun playing games.

We made fun ghosts with streamers and paper plates.

Stop walking when the music stops!

Someone really gets into the spirit of Halloween.

It is okay to touch hands if you are going to slap them later, isn't it?

That is a serious bunch!

Our Colorful Class

This years third graders are a wonderful class.  They are full of excitement for learning, and are quick to catch on to new concepts.  This year we are really working on writing skills.  One of writing projects involved writing about ourself.   Here is a sample of Our Colorful Class. You can see each poem better by simply clicking on an image.  This will bring up all the images in a slide show type image.

I Meant To Do My Work Today.....

We have been having beautiful fall weather!  So nice, in fact, that we have not been able to get our school work done because we would rather be outside before it becomes too cold to go out.  We wrote a poem called "I Meant to Do My Work Today".

How I Spent My Summer Vacation

We read a story by Mark Teague titled How I Spent My Summer Vacation.  We then thought of something we did on summer vacation and wrote about it.  The assignment was to write about something that we really did during the summer.  Here are our summer experiences.
